Outlander Purple Scottish Thistle Shawl - FREE SHIPPING SH64
"Go ahead," he said, a moment later. "Open it. It's yours." The outlines of the little package blurred under my fingers. I blinked and sniffed, but made no move to open it. "I'm sorry," I said. "Well, so ye should be, Sassenach," he said, but his voice was no longer angry. Reaching, he took the package from my lap and tore away the wrapping, revealing a wide silver band, decorated in the Highland interlace style, a small and delicate Jacobean thistle bloom carved in the center of each link. So much I saw, and then my eyes blurred again."
~~Jamie and Claire Fraser from Outlander, series of books by Diana Gabaldon
The Scottish thistle is the oldest recorded 'National Flower' and is probably one of the most well-known, and easily recognized symbols of Scotland. With viciously sharp thorns, the delicate flower heads are even more beautiful. Look closely at this shawl for the thistle pattern I've crocheted throughout.
This is a medium sized reversible shawl wrap that goes everywhere from forest to town, with a coat, sweater, dress or shirt, from casual to elegant. (Note: the dragonfly shawl pin can be purchased separately.)
