Creamy and delicate, this lace collar is gorgeous, wear it with anything not already having a collar and VOILA! Instant style.
Similar collars were worn by ladies in the 17th and 18th centuries, the period that the Outlander series, my favorite books by Diana Gabaldon, is set. I think Claire Fraser would have liked this deep collar whether she was in the Scottish Highlands.
“You are my courage, as I am your conscience,” he whispered. “You are my heart—and I your compassion. We are neither of us whole, alone. Do ye not know that, Sassenach?” “I do know that,” I said, and my voice shook. “That’s why I’m so afraid. I don’t want to be half a person again, I can’t bear it.”
~~~Jamie & Claire in Drums of Autumn, Outlander series of books by Diana Gabaldon
The lace is soft cotton in a feather-like pattern, almost like the wings of a bird. Draped in the center front is a lovely large round pendant with a metal tree of life overlay. Antiqued brass and rhinestone beads flank the pendant. It fastens in the back with a matching toggle clasp.
Ancient Celts (Druids) believed that the tree of life or crann bethadh possessed special powers and symbolized balance and harmony prevalent in nature, as well in people.
Wear with just about everything! For yourself or the Outlander fan in your life!
